On April 27, 2025, members of the Wudang Pai Auvergne club gathered in Saint-Paulien for a unique day dedicated to the initiation into Taoist swordsmanship (jian), the iconic weapon of the Wudang tradition.

Far more than a martial tool, the Taoist sword is known as the “gentleman of weapons.” It represents the union of body (身, shēn), spirit (神, shén) and intention (意, yì). Its mastery demands fluidity, precision, and presence of mind. In the Wudang tradition, the sword becomes a tool of self-defense, a path of harmony, and a means of inner cultivation.
Guided by their instructors, participants explored the foundations of sword practice: posture, movement, flowing technique, and energy grounding. This intense and dynamic session immersed everyone in the depth of this refined, ancient art—where every gesture becomes an expression of Taoist balance.
Though physically tired, participants left the workshop deeply inspired, thrilled by this first encounter with the Wudang sword. Their renewed motivation speaks to the vitality of this living tradition, and the joy of practicing together with discipline, heart, and intention.
